One of the older prophets said the following: 'I do not worry about the teen who prays twice a day.'
As I was thinking about that I just got the feeling that it was really true. That if you pray morning and night you will be a whole lot stronger to face the day. I have also noticed how important scripture reading is. If you start slacking on scripture reading then you start slacking on saying prayers which leads to the distruction of your testimoney. I read this scripture last night...(3nephi 9:2) "...for the devil laugheth and his angels rejoice because of the slain of the fair sons and daughters of my people; and it is because of their iniquity and abominations that they are fallen!" It made me so mad because I knew how true it was. He does laugh at us when we do wrong and are hurting. And his angels do rejoice in our sorrow. It just made me even more determined to disappoint him.
This was also a scripture that really stuck out to me:(helaman5:41) "...you must repent...and have faith in Christ...and when ye shall do this, the cloud of darkness shall be removed from overshadowing you." I was thinking that the 'cloud of darkness' is depression. Kinda a cool scripture huh. Repent. Have faith. And my depression will be taken away.
One last thing...Last night when I was talking to Chris he was saying how the people in the church are all self-rightous and such. Which is what a lot of people say. I believe it to an extent as well. The problem is that some people use it as an excuse to stop going to church or believeing. But I read this scripture and then it kinda made sense to me...(d&c1:30) at the very end of it, it says..."with which I, the Lord, am well pleased", (he is speaking about the church) BUT (then he goes on to say)..."speaking unto the church collectively and not individually." What I think he is really saying is "The church is perfect. The people are not." But we tend to forget that and think that if the people act a certain way then the church must not be true or right because if it was people wouldn't act like that. But that so isn't true. All I have to say is if you have to compare people to the church, compare the prophet. Because who he is, and how he acts IS what our church is.
